Remembering you

How can I still remember your beautiful eyes, the redness of your lips, and the softness of your voice? How can I still remember the funny jokes you told me, the late-night talks, and the random hellos?

I play another sad love song. I shouldn’t have. My heart felt heavy. It’s not because I miss you, but because I remember you. Remembering that things wouldn’t be the same anymore. Waking up with no good morning messages There were no moments of typing your name on my phone. Remembering all the stickers we made and how we laughed about how silly they were. Remembering how we talked about our family and forgot about our sisters. Remembering how I always remind you to drink your water. Remembering how we can’t be together. Remembering the last exchange of messages we had. Remembering to forget you.

I woke up from a long nap. As I stare blankly at the ceiling while the music on my earphones is still playing, I think of you. And while thinking of you and remembering your face, I unconsciously said the words, “I love you”.

I look at people's faces, random photos, and places and think, "What If I was there?" "What If it was me?" https://mytangerinenam.medium.com/
